Payment Processing Integration – Salesforce for a Leading Non-Profit

Opportunity/Problem Statement:

  • Complexity and Maintenance Issue with Existing Payment Gateways: Business offers the membership to the potential members through various channels. The payment gateways used for these channels were different and It was a challenge to maintain the payment gateways with their compatibility with each channel. As a result, any potential improvements related to payments were facing the impediments of complexity and compatibility to the proposed changes, and consequently holding off the crucial business decisions.
  • Handling unpaid memberships: The client needed to manage unpaid memberships using a different flow than the regular one, as legal constraints prevented the use of the standard flow. However, creating a new flow for members proved challenging due to its complexity and the need to ensure compliance with all relevant legal aspects.

Solution Highlights:

  • Mirketa created a backend environment for a new payment gateway that would seamlessly integrate with all channels and manage payment processes without any disruptions. In addition to payment processing, Mirketa also developed a solution to handle potential refund processes and designed a corresponding workflow. The solution was based on a flexible architecture that considered the dynamic nature of possible future improvements in payment processes.
  • We created a distinct flow for handling unpaid memberships that offers flexibility to accommodate future changes. The design of the flow ensures legal compliance while also maintaining similarities to the original flow, making it more user-friendly for business users. Furthermore, the solution architecture was developed with the capacity to handle significant improvements in the future with minimal changes and minimal disruption.

Results:

  • The efforts to verifying and redesigning the improvements as per the compatibility of different channels reduced from many to one which streamlined the business decisions.
  • The maintenance for the single payment gateway became less time consuming and easier.
  • The backend load of handling transactions through different payment gateways separately was also reduced .
  • The distinct flow for unpaid membership allowed the business handle its special members while being aligned to the legal compliances.
  • Flexible solution architecture made business more confident on the existing system to handle the upcoming changes/improvements.
  • With the similar flow for the unpaid membership, business users adopted the new flow with least training efforts
